This tour will show you
something different. The area between Adelaide and
the Northern Territory is less travelled than the
country north of Alice Springs, however on this tour
you will discover that it also holds many unique
places of interest. |
Points of Interest:
• The Stuart Highway as it traverses the enormous expanses of
the outback. Travelling by bus you get a sense on the immensity of
this country and the isolation experienced by early settlers to this
country. We pass numerous salt lakes that in times of heavy rainfall
abound with live. Along the way we'll see the biggest trucks in the
world the famous “Roadtrains” which carry their enormous loads for
thousands of kilometres to remote towns and roadside stops who have
become dependent on them.
• Flinders Ranges National Park has much to offer:
extraordinary rock formations, aboriginal art sites, abundant
wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, emus and numerous other
bird species, along with walking trails that will lead you through
the surrounding natural beauty of the area.
• Coober Pedy a unique mining town, dedicated to the
extraction of opals. A town where the most comfortable place to live
is below ground due to the extreme heat of the summer and the very
cold winters nights. The outback landscapes have also provided
numerous great scenes for several movies.
• The Dingo Fence more than 5.000 km. in length and which
stretches from New South Wales, across South Australia and into
Western Australia. This fence was constructed to restrict the entry
of the dingo (Australia's wild dog) inot the sheep grazing country
in the southern part of Australia.
• The vivid and colourful outback landscapes are witnessed as
we cross the continent to the north. The fantastic colours of
sunrise and sunset light up the desert skies while at night the star
filled skies present a picture that can only be see to be believed.
Clear skies with no contamination will allow you to see the stars of
the southern hemisphere like never before.
In the Northern territory we will visit the must see locations of:
Ayers Rock, The Olgas, Kings Canyon and Alice Springs. In the Top
End we visit Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks and on the east
coast the Atherton Tablelands and Cairns the departure point for the
Great Barrier Reef.
